Report: WWE Considered Creating A Raw Underground Championship
Who could have been the king of the fight club...
Aug 19, 2020
Back on the August 3 episode of Monday Night Raw, Shane McMahon returned to WWE TV and introduced the audience at home to Raw Underground, a shoot-style fight club at an undisclosed location. The new concept featured a ropeless ring for Superstars and jobbers to fight in and the likes of Dolph Ziggler, Dabba-Kato, Riddick Moss and Erik of The Viking Raiders have been prominently featured so far.
This week's edition of Raw Underground was also used to progress storylines as The Showoff started a feud with Ivar and Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler almost came to blows before The Facebreaker scurried away.
WWE considered placing further emphasis on the fight club as @BeltFanDan recently reported the company considered created a Raw Underground Championship. The new belt would have been damaged like the Hardcore Title but with spray paint and faux brick texturing.
@BeltFanDan tweeted: "Supposedly the idea of a Raw Underground Championship was pitched. Suggestions included it looking beat up like the Hardcore belt with spray paint and simulated brick texturing."
