Report: WWE Considering Huge Match For John Cena's Comeback Run
WWE is discussing a major dream match for John Cena
John Cena made his big return to WWE on last night’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown, beginning a return run that will see him appear on seven more SmackDown’s across the next two months and at the upcoming Superstar Spectacle event in India where he will team with Seth Rollins to take on Imperium’s Ludwig Kaiser and Giovani Vinci. Aside from that and an appearance at the Payback PPV as the host, plans for Cena haven’t been announced.
A report from WRKD Wrestling on X has revealed that there may be some big plans on the horizon for Cena with one “American Nightmare”. Their post stated;
“John Cena vs. Cody Rhodes has been discussed as a possibility during Cena’s return stint.”
Although Rhodes is a Raw superstar, WWE have been lenient with the most recent brand split, with the likes of LA Knight and The Miz recently appearing on both shows to build their feud. Rhodes and Cena will both be present at tonight’s Payback event, so they could cross paths there.
