WWE Payback 2023 Main Event Revealed

WWE have announced the Payback 2023 main event

WWE is hosting their seventh Payback PPV event later tonight - the first since 2020 - and it looks as though the card is now fully set. At WWE’s recent PPVs such as SummerSlam, Money in the Bank, and Backlash, the company has been billing multiple matches to be the “main event”, citing “double” and “triple” main events, even though fans are fully in the know that there is only one true main event, and that is the closing match.

WWE hasn’t gone down this route for Payback, and they have instead announced one solitary main event that looks as though it will be closing the show. During last night’s Friday Night SmackDown broadcast in the rundown of the card, Michael Cole revealed that the World Heavyweight Championship match between Seth Rollins and Shinsuke Nakamura would be THE main event.

This will be the first time ever that this current iteration of the World Heavyweight Championship has been in this spot, it will be Nakamura’s first singles WWE PPV main event, and Seth Rollins’ first since facing Matt Riddle at Extreme Rules 2022.
