Report: WWE Creative Drawing Up Potential Plans For Jay White & Kota Ibushi

WWE reportedly making plans for Jay White and Kota Ibushi should they join the company

With the recent New Japan departure of Kota Ibushi, and with Jay White losing a Loser Leaves NJPW match to Eddie Kingston at Battle in the Valley, speculation is ramping up as to where the former IWGP World Heavyweight Champions could end up.

Both men have been heavily linked with moves to WWE or AEW, and Wrestlevotes have reported that WWE are reportedly drafting up ideas should they make the switch to WWE, telling Givemesport:

“In the middle of January there was a decent-sized meeting which involved a lot of the creative team and marketing people. It was about perspective free agents, with people of all sorts being brought up. Jay was obviously on the list,” said Wrestlevotes.

They continued; “I can tell you that they want him [White], they were hopeful that they could get him. They even started coming up with rough creative ideas to bring him in.”

White has been linked to WWE since late 2022, with ‘The Switchblade’ rumoured to be making a Royal Rumble 2023 appearance last month. As for Ibushi, a recent report suggested WWE were prioritising the signing of a free agent other than White, with Wrestlevotes suggesting that Ibushi’s name was also brought up in the same WWE creative meeting.
