Report: WWE Interested In Signing Brian Cage

Brian Cage could be set to leave AEW

Could an All Elite Wrestling talent be set to jump ship to WWE?

It has been known in recent weeks that Brian Cage's contract with All Elite Wrestling is set to expire and Fightful Select has now reported that The Machine's deal was set to end imminently. Cage and AEW have agreed to work together until the end of March through the ROH Supercard of Honor pay-per-view and he will become a free agent unless a longer-term deal is worked out.

It was noted that AEW tried to extend Cage's deal with injury time that would have kept him under contract until the end of June but Cage pushed back on that. Some of the time added would have been from when Cage signed with AEW as he was injured after leaving IMPACT Wrestling.

The former FTW Champion is said to be interested in exploring free agency and 'WWE has maintained interest in Cage in the event he becomes a free agent.' WWE are interested in speaking to the 39-year-old but Cage is also believed to have been offered a contract extension by AEW that is comparable to his current deal with the promotion. Some 'heavy hitters' within AEW have been in Cage's corner as of late and Chris Jericho advocated for AEW to re-sign him recently

Cage made his AEW debut back in May 2020. Along with one reign as FTW Champion, Cage is one-third of the reigning ROH Six-Man Tag Team Champions with Toa Liona and Kaun.

Cage was previously a developmental talent in WWE between 2008 and 2009
