Report: WWE King Of The Ring PPV Likely To Return

King of the Ring coming back?

Amidst reports that Triple H is set to shake up the WWE pay-per-view calendar in 2023, with Hell in a Cell set to revert to just being a match among other changes, WrestleVotes have reported that King of the Ring is likely to return as a one-night tournament on pay-per-view.

"There's a very good chance that King of the Ring is back, and likely back in the format that had happened in the late 80s. The idea is that every single match will happen that night. In the 90s, a lot of the matches happened on Superstars and Raw, with the semifinals and finals on pay-per-view. If it's going to come back on pay-per-view, which I would say is probably going to happen, you're going to have a full-on one-night tournament. I mean, tournament wrestling is old-school wrestling, and Hunter loves old-school wrestling. If it still makes sense, especially when you have 500 people on the roster, you can do it. That's what they're going to do," WrestleVotes told GiveMeSport.

The first King of the Ring tournament was held back in 1985 and the event became an annual pay-per-view between 1993 and 2002. The tournament has been sporadically revived since then, including last year which saw Xavier Woods defeat Finn Balor at Crown Jewel to become King of the Ring.
