More main roster talents have appeared on WWE NXT in recent months, with The Judgment Day, among other wrestlers, having become a fixture on the Tuesday night show over the past several weeks. The appearances have reportedly come together as part of a Nick Khan directive to establish NXT as a third brand once again.

The main roster appearances have paid dividends for the Tuesday night show in the ratings so far, with the July 25 episode drawing NXT's best ratings in the 18-49 demographic since October 2020.

Tonight's NXT will see Dominik Mysterio defend the North American Championship against Dragon Lee and Rey Mysterio will make his way to the WWE Performance Center to corner Dragon Lee for the match against his son. WWE are looking to draw another strong rating from the show and the long-term goal of NXT is to beat AEW Dynamite in the 18-34 demo, according to Dave Meltzer.

"The thing I keep hearing is their goal, which is to beat Dynamite in 18-34 some weeks. And, not this last week, but the week before, they were pretty close. So, we'll see," Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio.

WWE NXT and AEW Dynamite previously went head-to-head in the Wednesday Night Wars from October 2019 until April 2021 when NXT moved to Tuesday nights. Triple H has rekindled the bitterness between WWE and AEW over the past year, notably when WWE allegedly reached out to several talents under contract with AEW to see if they would jump ship. This prompted AEW's legal team to send a cease-and-desist to WWE.
