Sonya Deville Out Of Action With Torn ACL

Following an initial report from TMZ, Sonya Deville has confirmed that she is out of action with a torn ACL.

Deville stated on Twitter that she suffered a torn ACL on last week's episode of Friday Night SmackDown where she and Chelsea Green took on Charlotte Flair and Bianca Belair in tag team action. Deville undergoes surgery on her knee today.

"Obviously, the tag team titles are cursed. Just kidding. But like, not really. Obviously, it's super bitter to say its come to an end due to an injury. Especially since it is my first injury in wrestling, or really in sports in general...obviously it's super disappointing and it couldn't have come at a worse time, but I don't think any injury comes at a great time. That's just how the cookie crumbles," Deville said.

Sonya Deville and Chelsea Green had only just become WWE Women's Tag Team Champions, winning the belts on July 17. The belts have changed hands several times in 2023 already, twice due to injury. 

The future of the titles was not revealed on Monday Night Raw beyond a brief comment from Michael Cole in which he stated that WWE will have to work out what they're going to do with the championships.
