Back on the July 29 episode of NXT, Dexter Lumis faced off against Timothy Thatcher and Finn Balor for the right to advance to the North American Title Ladder match at NXT TakeOver: XXX. The Creepy B*****d ultimately emerged victorious after trapping Thatcher in a Sleeper Hold and forcing him to pass out.

Lumis was ruled out of the Ladder match last week, however, after WWE announced he had suffered an osteochondral lesion to the ankle in the Triple Threat.

WWE Digital wrote: "WWE Digital has learned that the severity of the ankle injury suffered by Dexter Lumis is worse than previously reported.

"In last week's NXT Injury Report, it was revealed that Lumis had suffered an osteochondral lesion to the talus after a gruelling battle with Finn Bálor and Timothy Thatcher for a North American Championship Match opportunity."

Many wondered if the NXT Superstar's injury was genuine and it seemingly was as Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the former IMPACT star was pulled from NXT TakeOver: XXX because of a "legit" ankle issue.
