Report: WWE NXT's TV Deal Set To Expire Later This Year

WWE NXT TV deal expiring soon

WWE might have to renegotiate their NXT TV deal soon.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, NXT's TV deal with NBCUniversal on the USA Network will expire in September of 2023. This differs from WWE's other TV deals, with the Raw contract set to expire in September 2024 along with SmackDown, and the WWE Network deal with Peacock which will run until early 2026.

WWE NXT aired on the WWE Network until 2019 when the developmental brand inked a TV deal with USA Network ahead of the launch of AEW Dynamite on TNT. The developmental brand struggled on Wednesday nights against Dynamite and moved in April 2021 to Tuesday nights, with it being announced at the time that WWE had signed a multi-year extension with NBCUniversal to keep NXT on USA.

WWE are currently in talks with potential buyers over a sale of the organisation and CEO Nick Khan stated a deal could be completed within three months. Interested parties include Comcast (the parent company of NBCUniversal), Netflix, Endeavor, and Disney, among others.

Should a sale fail to materialise, WWE will begin negotiations over their next media rights deals.
