Report: WWE Planning To Have Tag Team Title Defences On Future PPVs

WWE's plans for Tag Team Title matches on PPVs have been revealed

Following WrestleMania 40, both the RAW & SmackDown Tag Team Championships were renamed and redesigned, becoming the WWE & World Tag Team Championships. Despite a fresh start for the tag team division and titles in WWE, neither set of gold has been defended on a WWE premium live event since WrestleMania 40.

Much of this is due to WWE’s new mindset when it comes to PLEs, with shows just having four to six matches on the card (aside from WrestleMania), meaning that many titles are not showcased and several big stars being left off major events. Cory of PWN on X provided details on WWE’s plans for the Tag Team Championships when it comes to being defended on PLEs.

He stated that these titles being featured on a PLE “is coming”, but it all comes down to a feud being big enough and built correctly to earn a spot on the card due to PLEs being reserved for the “highest caliber feuds which carry the TV shows”. This hasn’t been the case for the WWE or World Tag Team Championships over the last several months, which have been solely contested for on weekly television.
