WWE’s use of AI has been heavily criticised amongst fans. Whether it be strange-looking WrestleMania match graphics which changed design by the week, weird video packages in which textures don’t look real (notably in El Grande Americano video packages), PLE posters, t-shirts and other apparel, music, or more, fans are not too pleased with WWE’s efforts to lessen the use of artists, editors, and other talented individuals. Unfortunately, this use of AI looks set to increase.
According to a report from WRKD Wrestling on X, WWE is not only planning to continue the use of AI-generated content both on and off screen, but also to increase its usage too in the coming months! It is noted that WWE is “well aware of the negative online reaction”, but this isn’t hindering WWE’s new AI-centric approach to creating graphics, promotional posters, and other materials.
Last year, TKO’s Mark Shapiro revealed that WWE were using AI for analysis and data, helping them to see which storylines are resonating with the audience, with big plans to expand the use of AI going forwards, though it was stated that the belief within the company was that no one was using AI to write WWE storylines (not yet anyway).
