Report: WWE Raw Segment Retaped After 'Wrestling' Was Mentioned

Another possible sign of Vince McMahon's influence in WWE emerges

In a possible further sign of Vince McMahon's involvement in WWE creative, a pretaped interview on the March 20 edition of Monday Night Raw ended up being redone after the word "wrestling" was used, Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter

"Wrestling" was one of the banned terms on WWE TV when Vince McMahon was in charge of creative, with one of the rare exceptions being in 2020 when Paul Heyman convinced McMahon to bill Randy Orton vs. Edge at Backlash as "The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever."

It should be noted that Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes mentioned pro wrestling during their closing segment of Raw, during which Reigns mocked The American Nightmare as simply a "pro wrestler" while he was WWE's megastar. Cody found pride in the term, though, before he told Roman that he will be a Tribal Chief without a tribe after he beats him at WrestleMania 39.

After retiring in July 2022 amidst a sexual misconduct and hush money scandal, Vince McMahon returned to WWE in January 2023 and was elected Executive Chairman. While McMahon is primarily back to facilitate a sale of WWE, Triple H has mentioned that he speaks to his father-in-law about WWE creative.
