Drew McIntyre’s WrestleMania 41 plans could change, with WWE potentially listening to fan backlash over rumoured plans for the ‘Scottish Psychopath’.
McIntyre was eliminated from the 2025 Men’s Royal Rumble match by Damian Priest in a supposed first step towards a Mania singles match for the pair, but reports suggested McIntyre himself wasn’t enamoured by the potential bout, with fan sentiment echoing this.
On X/Twitter, Dr. Chris Featherstone of Sportskeeda reports that WWE have opened up internal discussions to potentially re-evaluate current plans for McIntyre, with many fans wanting a strong significant bout for ‘Irn Dru’ following a stellar 2024 that saw McIntyre cement himself as one of the best heels in the business.
WWE recently moved McIntyre from Raw to SmackDown with major storylines planned for McIntyre on the blue brand. Whether these big plans could be changed by any potential knock-on from changed WrestleMania plans remains to be seen.
Reports had suggested that McIntyre was pencilled in for a feud with Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes after his feud with Priest was done, with plans to run McIntyre vs. Rhodes first scheduled for 2023, although these were shelved when Rhodes failed to win the WWE Title at WrestleMania 39.
