Ever since the Royal Rumble 2025 premium live event, Drew McIntyre has been the topic of a lot of conversation within the professional wrestling world. It emerged shortly following the Rumble that McIntyre had stormed out of the show due to frustrations at a wrestler in the match trying to “get their stuff in” and ultimately ruining his elimination spot, with it soon being revealed that this individual was LA Knight. After working together on Friday Night SmackDown, the heat between McIntyre and Knight seemed to have been squashed.
McIntyre was eliminated from the Rumble match by Damian Priest, seemingly setting up a WrestleMania feud between the pair. Alongside the report of McIntyre’s Rumble frustrations, it was also reported that he wasn’t too happy with his WrestleMania 41 plans, deeming a bout with Priest as a “nothing match”. The online sentiment amongst fans has been that McIntyre is deserving of a higher profile match at WrestleMania following his year of very strong work as a heel.
McIntyre has very much been involved with the likes of CM Punk, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns, with there being a push from some fans to include him in a reported planned triple threat match for WrestleMania. When it comes to WWE’s reaction to all the support coming the way of McIntyre, they are at least seemingly aware of it. PWInsider have reported that WWE has seen the support shared online, though it isn’t clear if this will change any reported plans for WrestleMania 41.
There have been some reported plans revealed for McIntyre post Mania season, with him slated to work with Cody Rhodes in the aftermath of WrestleMania.
