Report: WWE SmackDown Star Injured

On last week's episode of Friday Night SmackDown, Drew Gulak picked up an upset victory over AJ Styles, Lacey Evans defeated Sonya Deville after a distraction from Mandy Rose, and Bayley and Sasha Banks captured the Women's Tag Team Championships for a second time.

One Superstar who was noticeably absent from the show was Elias. The Drifter was struck by a car that had been leased to Jeff Hardy two weeks ago, and it was later revealed the SmackDown star suffered a torn pectoral muscle and broken ribs.

Dave Meltzer reported on F4W Online that Elias was struck by the car to write him off TV because he has legitimately torn his pectoral muscle and will be out of action "for months."

The former 24/7 Champion had been a constant presence on Friday nights in recent months, having been on the receiving end of a push since he returned in November 2019. The Drifter had been involved in a high profile feud with King Corbin and twice defeated his rival at WrestleMania 36 and on the May 15 episode of SmackDown. This allowed Elias to advance to the semi-finals of the Intercontinental Championship Tournament, but he was unable to face AJ Styles because of his injury.
