Report: WWE SummerSlam Set For August 22

Location is not yet known

Recent reports have indicated that WWE SummerSlam could mark the return of regular touring for the organization. If that's the case, a date appears to be set from which that would commence.

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, the 2021 SummerSlam is tentatively scheduled to take place on Sunday, August 22.

No location has been confirmed for the event as of yet.

Barring a return to touring prior to SummerSlam, it looks like that the card would mark WWE's second event outside of the Performance Center and its subsequent Thunderdome settings, following the WrestleMania 37 twin-bill in April.

Last year's SummerSlam was the first WWE pay-per-view to take place inside the Thunderdome, which was then situated inside of the Amway Center in Orlando. The setup was seen as a major improvement from the empty, otherwise-sterile Performance Center.

The 2020 event was originally scheduled to be held at TD Garden in Boston.

Meanwhile, AEW announced their return to touring earlier on Monday, confirming that they'll be hitting the road once more, beginning with the July 7 edition of Dynamite.
