Report: WWE Taking "Extra Care" With Locations Of Premium Live Events

WWE Reportedly Taking More Care In Selecting PLE Locations

Over the last year or so, WWE’s premium live events have been taking place in a range of locations. Clash At The Castle took place in the UK, Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia, and Elimination Chamber in Canada. WWE’s current schedule also has Backlash taking place in Puerto Rico, with the company also heading back to the UK with the Money in the Bank event.

When it comes to the selections of these events, and for those going forward, a source reportedly told Fightful that the decisions for hosting these shows at particular locations isn’t just on a whim, and a lot of thought is going into it. The report on Fightful Select states;

“WWE has been putting extra care into the selection of PLE locations, and drastically changed its approach from 2022. They want each event to have a distinct purpose, whether that be thematic, financial, or strategic. For example, thematic would be Sami Zayn in Montreal for Elimination Chamber, or Bad Bunny hosting Backlash in Puerto Rico. Financial would be stadiums vs. arenas. Strategic would be London's event happening in prime time ahead of their rights renewals in the area, and also WrestleMania in Los Angeles around the time they're planning a sale of the company, and ahead of the TV rights renewals.”

Certainly from a thematic point of view, it has granted WWE some big moments such as Drew McIntyre and Sami Zayn’s respective Undisputed WWE Universal Championship challenges. It remains to be seen which other unique markets WWE will visit this year.
