Report: WWE To Cut Back On NXT House Shows

Shows aren't drawing well

Attendances at NXT house shows have reduced significantly over the past year and as a result WWE are looking to cut back.

Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer explained they were looking to, in particular, reduce shows in Florida and those held on a Thursday.

A number of reasons have forced WWE into this decision as many of the shows are held in Florida, with local residents burned out from the sheer number of events.

The variation of fans attending has also supposedly reduced attendances. Meltzer compares differences between "the respectful fan" and the "old school fan," in which the old school fan will get drunk, and scream at heels. The respectful fan will instead prefer to cheer match quality, as opposed to any particular Superstars.

The conflicting styles, according to Meltzer, cause nobody to have any fun, as both sets of fans simply become annoyed with one another.

The Superstars appearing at House Shows is also different, as key members of the NXT roster like Adam Cole, Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa don't often compete. Instead, the shows tend to be composed of wrestlers who don't appear on TV.
