The April 4 episode of Friday Night SmackDown featured a face-to-face promo between Charlotte Flair and WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton ahead of their WrestleMania 41 clash that seemingly went off the rails in front of everyone’s eyes, with it being reported very soon after that very little that was on the rundown for the promo unravelled in the way it was supposed to.

Comments were made by Stratton about Charlotte Flair’s personal life (including her recent divorce from fellow WWE star Andrade), the pair interrupted each other several times, and Flair would make light of moments where Stratton stumbled over her words. The reaction from those higher up in WWE were not positive, nor did they stick blame on any of the two individually, but instead both women were under fire. It is reported by Fightful Select that those in WWE were ‘unhappy’ with both Flair & Stratton following the segment. In the online versions of the segment, WWE edited out the personal jibes, in what is described by Fightful as a ‘specific directive’.

On X, Jon Alba followed this up by stating that he’d heard that the situation was contentious backstage, even amongst the higher ups in the company. It remains to be seen if either woman will receive any form of reprimanding after this, or if WrestleMania 41 will feature any alteration to their matchup.
