Report: WWE Wanted Mickie James To Return Alongside Nick Aldis

WWE wanted "Co-General Managers" on SmackDown

Nick Aldis made his televised WWE debut last night, being revealed to be the brand new SmackDown General Manager. The former TNA and NWA World Champion was brought in over the summer in a backstage producer role, and he is now taking up kayfabe authority duties too. There were apparently discussions for him to not be alone though in his running of Friday Night SmackDown, as WWE wanted his wife and former multi-time Women’s Champion Mickie James to be by his side.

WrestleVotes on X reported last night, Source states that within the last month there were discussions and ideas thrown around to see if Aldis’ wife Mickie James would be interested in such a role as ‘Co-GMs’. This doesn’t look to be happening though.”

This came out before Aldis made his debut on SmackDown to take up this new role, so it looks as though James’ lack of involvement was confirmed. It should be noted that James is still working in IMPACT Wrestling, recently returning from an injury.
