A future match between Swerve Strickland and Cope (AKA Adam Copeland) was teased following AEW Revolution.
The main event of Revolution saw Christian Cage cash in his title shot during Jon Moxley vs. Cope to make the match for the AEW World Championship a Three-Way. Cage was unsuccessful in his cash-in, however, as he passed out to a Bulldog Choke from Jon Moxley, with Cope unable to make the save following a Spear and Killswitch from Christian moments before Moxley capitalised.
Following the match, Jon Moxley scurried to leave the arena, only to be taken out while in the crowd with a Swerve Stomp from the guardrail by Swerve Strickland. Revolution then went off the air with fans chanting for Strickland.
Once the show had gone dark, Swerve Strickland headed to the ring and stood across from Cope, telling the former Edge that he had been looking forward to facing him for the AEW World Title and that he had looked up to Adam Copeland since he was a child. Strickland then said he would gladly take on the responsibility of defeating Jon Moxley for the AEW World Championship.
Cope put over Swerve, saying he sees something in the former AEW World Champion. The former Edge teased a future showdown with Strickland, though, noting that Crypto.com Arena was his house before it was ever Swerve's as it was the venue where he won the first WWE Money in the Bank Ladder Match. Cope then said he hoped Swerve wins the AEW World Title because he would be facing him for the championship right after. The segment came to an end with Cope throwing the microphone to the mat, drawing boos from the crowd in the process.
