Rey Mysterio's WWE Return Date Revealed
SmackDown Live 1000 looks to be on the cards...
Oct 2, 2018
On 19 September the news broke that Rey Mysterio had signed on the dotted line for a sensational return to WWE. Today, thanks to Mike Johnson of
PWInsider, we now know when the former World Heavyweight Champion will step foot in a WWE ring for the first time since the Greatest Royal Rumble in April.
Johnson reports that SmackDown Live 1000 on 16 October is the night that Rey will make his WWE return. The company appear to be making the blue brand's milestone show a similar affair to the celebration Raw put on back in July 2012 with several names from the past returning. Mysterio, of course,
signed a two-year deallast month with the option of a break at the 18-month mark - so his case is more than just a one night stand, if you will.
This presumably means that Mysterio is going to be a SmackDown Live Superstar going forward. When the news of his return broke, it was also reported that he was just waiting to hear what the fabled creative teams have in store for him. While this isn't confirmation by any stretch, a big appearance and showdown with a current star could well seal his fate.
A number of stars have already been confirmed to return with Mysterio for SmackDown 1000. The likes of Batista (despite claiming he wasn't invited to the show on Twitter not too long ago and Ric Flair are definitely appearing, while the likes of The Undertaker, Michelle McCool, Torrie Wilson, Teddy Long and Vickie Guerrero are all heavily rumoured to be making their own respective comebacks.
