Rhea Ripley Challenges Charlotte Flair For WWE WrestleMania 39

For the SmackDown Women's title

Women's Royal Rumble winner Rhea Ripley has made her choice for WrestleMania 39, announcing she will challenge SmackDown Women's champion Charlotte Flair at the event.

In her promo issuing the challenge, Ripley noted that Flair had beaten her at WrestleMania before, but cited being less experienced at the time. She vowed to disrupt the normalcy with which Flair is on top of WWE at WrestleMania.

At WrestleMania 36 in 2020, Flair (that year's Rumble winner) defeated Ripley to win the NXT championship.

Ripley won the women's Rumble on Saturday night from the number one position, last eliminating Liv Morgan (who entered second). Ripley and Morgan lasted over 61 minutes in the match.

Flair won her seventh SmackDown Women's title from Ronda Rousey on December 30 in Tampa. It was Flair's return match after being out since May.

The current card for WWE WrestleMania 39, taking place Saturday, April 1 and Sunday, April 2 at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, includes the following:

* Undisputed WWE Universal: Roman Reigns (c) vs. Cody Rhodes

* SmackDown Women's: Charlotte Flair (c) vs. Rhea Ripley
