Roman Reigns Vs. Cody Rhodes Official For WWE WrestleMania 39

For the Undisputed WWE Universal title

It is official: Cody Rhodes will challenge Undisputed WWE Universal champion Roman Reigns for the gold at WrestleMania 39 in two months time.

While the match was pretty much inevitable, given that Reigns currently holds both World titles, Rhodes made the challenge official on Monday's Raw in Tulsa, OK.

Rhodes won the men's Royal Rumble match on Saturday night in San Antonio. Entering from the number 30 spot, Rhodes last eliminated Gunther (the number one entrant) to win the match.

The Rumbled marked Rhodes' first match since Hell in a Cell on June 5 last year. He was sidelined for nearly eight months after the match with a torn pectoral muscle.

Reigns has been the unified champion since last year's WrestleMania, when he won the WWE title from Brock Lesnar in a winner take all match. He has held the Universal championship since August 30, 2020, when he defeated Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman in a three way bout.

WWE has not yet announced on which night that the Reigns vs. Rhodes match will take place.
