Rhea Ripley Goes The Distance, Wins WWE Women's Royal Rumble

Rhea Ripley wins the WWE Women's Royal Rumble

Entering at number one, Rhea Ripley went the distance on January 28 to win the 2023 Women's Royal Rumble at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

The match came down to Asuka (returning with her Murder Clown gimmick), Ripley, and Liv Morgan, with the latter two being the first entrants in the Rumble. All three competitors ended up brawling on the apron down the closing stretch and Asuka looked to win the match after spraying mist at Ripley. The Nightmare ducked, though, and Asuka hit Morgan by mistake. Ripley then spun into a 619 to eliminate the Murder Clown.

Suddenly, a blind Morgan caught Ripley with Oblivion and the Judgment Day member was left hanging onto the ropes for dear life as her legs were dangling. Eventually, Ripley brought her legs back up and she caught Morgan with a Head Scissors, sending the former SmackDown Women's Champion crashing to the floor.

With that, after several close calls in past Rumbles, Rhea Ripley can finally call herself a Royal Rumble winner. She will go on to one of the main events of WrestleMania 39.
