Ric Flair Appears In Andrade El Idolo's Corner At AAA Triplemania XXIX

First post-WWE appearance for "The Nature Boy"

Mere weeks after parting ways with WWE, Ric Flair has appeared at AAA's Triplemania XXIX on Saturday night at Arena Ciudad de Mexico in Mexico City.

Flair showed up as the cornerman for Andrade el Idolo, who's challenging Kenny Omega for the AAA Mega championship. Andrade is currently engaged to Flair's daughter Ashley (aka Charlotte Flair).

Flair parted ways with WWE as of Monday, August 2, reportedly asking to be out of his contract. His final storyline involved being conned into a relationship with Lacey Evans, as an attempt on Evans' part at getting under the skin of Charlotte.

According to wrestling historian Roy Lucier, this is Flair's first ever appearance for any lucha libre promotion, noting that Flair was supposed to appear at CMLL's anniversary show in 1982, before the alleged actions of a rival promoter kept it from happening.

Dave Meltzer noted in this week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Flair making his way to AEW (once legally able to do so) is all but inevitable. Andrade presently works there, as do former Horsemen stablemates in Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard.
