Ric Flair has filed a $10 million lawsuit against FAM Networks, a talent agency and media company, alleging the organisation duped the legendary pro wrestler into signing his image and likeness rights over to them.
Flair told The Independent:
"I spent more than forty years building the name Ric Flair, with my body, my blood, and everything I had. For decades, to be the man, you had to beat the man. FAM hasn’t beaten me. I trusted the wrong people to help me help manage that legacy. They overpromised and underdelivered after taking control that was never theirs to take and thought it was the whole match. I built this name, I earned this name, and I'm going to fight to take it back. I'm also doing this for every performer and public figure who's ever been handed a contract like this one. Wooooo!"
The lawsuit, filed on September 5 in Manhattan Supreme Court, alleges that Flair opened a contract from FAM Networks on December 5, 2025, and signed the contract 14 minutes later. It is claimed in the lawsuit that Flair did not have an attorney look over the contract, something that was allegedly in contradiction to FAM's claims, who stated the agreement had been negotiated with legal counsel representing Flair.
Flair was also allegedly offered a full slate of speaking engagements and appearances by FAM, with Flair receiving 90 per cent of the proceeds, while Flair would pocket 50 per cent of the proceeds from "collaborative projects", and 10 per cent from "passive content." FAM, according to the lawsuit, also stated they would restore Flair's Facebook page, which would bring in six figures per month. The lawsuit argues FAM's claims were "contractual obligations" the organisation failed to deliver on.
"FAM delivered none of them. It sourced not one speaking engagement. Not one in-person appearance. Not one personal project at the ninety percent royalty tier. It reposted existing content," the lawsuit states.
It is also alleged that FAM re-monetised Flair's Facebook page, bringing in as much as $20,000 per month, while "next to nothing" was paid to Flair from the revenue. FAM also transferred ownership of the Facebook page to themselves.
Flair is seeking for the FAM contract to be declared null and void, for control of his Facebook page to be returned to him, a declaratory judgement stating that FAM Networks have no rights to the 77-year-old's name, image, or likeness, and for a "complete accounting of revenues generated in his name."
Flair is also seeking compensatory damages of at least $5 million for breach of contract, further damages of at least $5 million for fraudulent inducement, as well as further damages for violations of New York Civil Rights Law, tortious interference with prospective economic advancement. Furthermore, Flair is demanding disgorgement of all money made by FAM at his expense, and attorney fees and court costs.
