Ric Flair Returning To NWA At 73rd Anniversary Show

The Nature Boy is going home

The NWA has confirmed that legendary eight-time NWA World’s Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair is returning to the promotion at the 73rd Anniversary Show on August 29.

The announcement was made via the NWA’s Twitter account, saying:

“It was always historic. But now #NWA73 at The Chase will be LEGENDARY. The rumors are true. He's finally HOME. @RicFlairNatrBoy is coming back to the NWA & Wrestling At The Chase”

So far there is no clue as to what role Flair will have at the event, with some suggesting an ambassadorial role is most likely. But as seen at last weekend’s AAA TripleMania XXIX event, if Flair is in the mood for dishing out some chops then no-one is going to stop him.

This will be Flair’s first appearance for the NWA since he left NWA/WCW in 1991 and took the NWA World’s Heavyweight Championship with him to the WWE. When Flair later returned to WCW in 1993, Ted Turner’s wrestling behemoth had severed ties with NWA.
