Ric Flair: Ricky Steamboat's Return Makes Me Want To Come Back Again
Ricky Steamboat's impending return to the ring has got Flair thinking...
The recent news that WWE Hall of Famer Ricky Steamboat is set to come out of retirement this coming November has given his famous adversary Ric Flair the itch to step into the ring again himself.
The Nature Boy came out of retirement for what was billed as his 'last match' in July.
Commenting on The Dragon's forthcoming return to the squared circle on a recent edition of his To Be The Man podcast, Flair said:
"He's going to be in a match soon. I'm happy for him. It's great. Steve Perkins is a great promoter. I wish them all well, whoever is involved. I don't know the situation, but it's great. It's one of those deals where nobody is ever going to be Ricky Steamboat so they might as well watch them while they can and enjoy the opportunity. There will never be another Ricky Steamboat. At any level, he's better than 50% of the guys in the business today. He wouldn't get in the ring if he wasn't. He holds himself to a very high standard. I imagine he'll probably look better than the guys he is in the ring with. He's always in great shape".
At no point did the two-time WWE Hall of Famer address reports that Steamboat turned down the opportunity to be involved in his last match, however.
To the surprise of his co-host (as well as son-in-law and 'last match' promoter) Conrad Thompson, Flair said later on in the show:
"Steamboat coming back makes me want to come back again. I went back up to Lincoln and started training again. What else is there to do?".
