Two-time WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair has reacted to John Cena's victory at Elimination Chamber, which means that Cena will now challenge Cody Rhodes for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 41.
Should Cena defeat Rhodes on The Grandest Stage, he will surpass the record he jointly holds with Flair as a sixteen-time world champion (though the actual number of Flair's reigns is widely disputed).
Posting a photo of himself alongside Cena following Cena's WWE Title victory over AJ Styles at the 2017 Royal Rumble on Instagram, Flair wrote:
"It's Been 25 Years Since I Won My Last, 16th World Championship, According To The @WWE. Blood, Sweat, And Tears! Harley Race, Bruiser Brody, Terry Funk, Dusty Rhodes, Brett Hart, Undertaker, Ricky Steamboat. The List Is Endless Of World Class Opponents. Unparalleled! My 1984 Schedule Has Actually Been Called Impossible To Perform. 60 & 90 Minute Matches! Let's Get Serious! @johncena, I Love You And Respect You, But You Ain't Taking Nothing From @americannightmarecody! If I Have To Fight My Way Through Security To Hit The Ring, I Will. I'll Take The Day Off Of Blood Thinners. LFG! Let's Do This!".
WWE had reportedly discussed Flair making a return to WWE TV at the 2025 Royal Rumble, though he didn't end up appearing. He did, however, reportedly film an appearance for WWE LFG last month.
