Ric Flair 'Willing To Walk Away' From AEW Following Controversial Rampage Promo

Ric Flair willing to exit AEW

Ric Flair has claimed he is sick of hearing "all this negativity" and the WWE Hall of Famer has said he is willing to walk away from All Elite Wrestling if he is embarrassing Tony Khan and the promotion.

"I Am So Tired Of Hearing All This Negativity! I Don't Need To Work, And I Don't Need The Money. Can't I Simply Enjoy Being By My Dear Friend @Sting’s Side For The Next Few Months Without So Much Hatred? I Know I'm Old, But That Doesn't Mean I Can't Enjoy Life! I Have Earned The Right To Do Whatever I Want & I'm Exactly Where I Want To Be! I Appreciate Everything @TonyKhan, But I'm More Than Willing To Walk Away If I Am Embarrassing You And Your Company. All I Can Say Is I'm Sorry!" Flair tweeted.

Flair's tweet is believed to be in response to a social media backlash over an in-ring promo Flair taped with Sting for tonight's edition of AEW Rampage. Flair invited women between the ages of 18 and 28 to come to his hotel room with "no boyfriends or husbands", similar to promos he used to cut in the 1980s.

This is the same Ric Flair who has previously been accused of sexual misconduct, including during the infamous Plane Ride from Hell episode of Dark Side of the Ring by flight attendant Heidi Doyle. Flair allegedly imposed himself on Doyle and forced her to touch his genitals. Flair has denied the allegations.

The allegations made Flair's signing with AEW very controversial, however, and there was an immediate backlash to him being brought in. Flair has been a part of Sting's retirement tour but he has signed a multi-year deal.

Many wrestlers have responded to Flair's post with sympathy.

Stone Cold Steve Austin wrote: "Ric, I enjoy watching you do all the things you do. And you're always having fun. Keep doing you. And that's the bottom line."

Kevin Nash replied: "Besides the fact you have earned the right. You wouldn't be there if it wasn't drawing fans. You always bring a smile to my face. Go Michigan!"

Chris Jericho, meanwhile, responded: "Don't listen to online assholes champ. You're f*ckin Ric Flair. Do what you want. F*ck em..."
