Rick Boogs is set for a stint on the shelf following WrestleMania 38.

The former Rik Bugez suffered an injury in the opening match of WrestleMania Saturday as his legs gave way while he had both members of The Usos on his shoulders in their SmackDown Tag Team Titles match.

Boogs immediately grabbed his leg following the injury and Shinsuke Nakamura and The Usos quickly went to the finish, with the SmackDown Tag Team Champions retaining following the 1D to The King Of Strong Style.

Later in the evening, SmackDown Announcer Michael Cole revealed Boogs tore his quadricep patella and would undergo surgery, likely on Sunday or Monday.

Boogs has since commented on his injury on Instagram, noting he will come back better than ever.

"From the highest of highs to lowest of lows. Having my beautiful wife with me to experience my first Wrestlemania. Getting the incredible opportunity to open the show! Being able to demonstrate brute strength in front of millions of viewers! Unfortunately, the doctor told me my quad was too strong for the tendon and it was flexing so hard, it ripped the tendon totally off the bone. I'm still incredibly grateful for the experience and for all the love and support. History proves I will come back bigger, better, and stronger. IT'S A MINDSET," Boogs wrote.

The 34-year-old has been aligned with Shinsuke Nakamura for the last year, playing The King Of Strong Style's theme on his guitar while Nakamura makes his way to the ring.
