Riho Returning To AEW Soon
The inaugural AEW Women's World Champion will be back soon
Jan 28, 2021
Riho hasn't stepped inside an All Elite Wrestling ring since she competed in a Four-Way match against Penelope Ford, Hikaru Shida and Kris Statlander on the March 18, 2020 edition of Dynamite.
That is set to change, though, as the company announced during last night's Dynamite that Riho will return soon to compete in the AEW Women's World Championship Eliminator Tournament. She will face NWA World Women's Champion Serena Deeb in the first round.
AEW tweeted: "FIRST ROUND in the #AEW Women’s World Championship eliminatior tournament sees The @NWA Women’s World Champion @SerenaDeeb take on the returning and first-ever #AEW Women’s World Champion @riho_gtmv!"
Recent reports noted AEW was working to bring Riho back to the United States and that she could return as early as February. This followed the end of her World Wonder Ring Stardom run on December 26 when she teamed with AZM against Mayu Iwatani and Starlight Kid. It was later reported the inaugural AEW Women's World Champion finished up with the Japanese promotion because they wanted their talent to be exclusive.
