Road Dogg has claimed he was turned down by All Elite Wrestling because of his political beliefs.

After becoming involved in a social media argument with Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer over tag team wrestling, a fan tweeted Road Dogg about a potential role in AEW, which prompted Road Dogg to allege that All Elite Wrestling's Tony Khan rejected the former WWE writer because of his beliefs.

"Actually, I was turned away because of my political/ core beliefs. That happened IN AMERICA. I didn't donate to or vote for Trump, BUT his old man did, why was I punished?" Road Dogg tweeted.

Brian James then noted he is a conservative and alleged that pro wrestling journalist David Bixenspan was somehow involved in Road Dogg being rejected by AEW.

"This is the guy that screenshot my social media Post (I am conservative) and then used it to get my opportunity canceled. I feel differently than a lot of you. Im not sorry for who I am and how I was raised," Road Dogg added.

When Bixenspan stated he had no idea what Road Dogg was talking about, Road Dogg replied: "My bad David. I guess there's another David B out there doing this."

After he was released by WWE in January 2022, Brian James tried to secure employment with All Elite Wrestling, noting in July of that year that he had been "begging" Tony Khan for a job, with this taking place at a time when he was critical of AEW on his podcast, including calling the TNT Championship the "jabroni title." James ultimately returned to WWE in August of 2022, initially as senior vice president of live events, and he stated in 2023 that Tony Khan "wouldn't have me" when he asked for a job in AEW.

Road Dogg ultimately returned to working on WWE creative and he was the co-lead writer of Friday Night SmackDown at the time of him quitting WWE in March of 2026. Road Dogg held talks with TNA following his WWE exit and he looked to be TNA-bound until those talks stalled following Slammiversary.
