Jim Johnston is open to returning to WWE to create new entrance music, but the legendary musician isn't expecting to receive a call from WWE Chief Content Officer Paul "Triple H" Levesque as Johnston believes Triple H isn't a very big fan of his.
"I still don't think, by the way, still Hunter - Paul - wants to maintain and think Motorhead wrote those songs. I don't think he's a very big fan. I think when he was coming into sort of out of wrestling into more of a behind-the-scenes role, he clearly wanted his own guys and he perceived me as Vince's guy. I think that's why I'm not being asked to write themes anymore," Johnston told All Axxess Entertainment.
"I'd be happy to do it, but you have to be asked. I think the chances that Paul's going to ask are close to zero. That the WWE Music Group is going to call me up, I think, is zero, and the guy who is currently doing the themes I think is zero. Why would you invite me in or invite somebody else in?"
Jim Johnston worked closely with WWE for over 30 years from 1985 until he was fired by Vince McMahon in 2017. Johnston created a whole host of legendary WWE themes, including for the likes of Triple H, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, The Rock, and The Ultimate Warrior. The final WWE theme that Johnston created was Baron Corbin's 'I Bring the Darkness (End of Days).'
Following Jim Johnston's exit, WWE music was handled by CFO$ before they were replaced by the much-maligned Def Rebel.
