Rob Van Dam Comments On AEW In-Ring Debut Following Jack Perry Loss

Rob Van Dam has spoken after his AEW loss to Jack Perry

Rob Van Dam made his in-ring debut for All Elite Wrestling on the August 9 edition of Dynamite, but the former ECW World Champion wasn’t able to come away with a win, losing to Jack Perry in an FTW Rules Match for the title of the same name.

Post-match, RVD spoke to AEW in a digital exclusive, reflecting on his match with Perry:

“Well, it felt pretty awesome going tonight, I gotta say. I count on the fans’ positive energy that they bring. I rely on connecting with them, but I’m still overwhelmed when they all have RVD signs and they’re all in unison chanting for me. It always exceeds my expectation. When that moment is real and I’m connected to them, it’s nothing but love. Love is the most powerful energy in the universe," Van Dam said.

Van Dam came into AEW to assist long-time rival Jerry Lynn in his war of words with Perry, and Lynn said the following about the result of the bout:

“It didn’t go his way tonight, but the way it happened, you can’t lose any face. I saw what happened, and at least with us two, we always wanted to try and prove how we were the best with wrestling and no shortcuts," Lynn said, reflecting on how Perry got the win after a low blow.

It’s believed that RVD in AEW is a one-and-done affair, with the ‘Whole F’n Show’ being advertised for WWE’s upcoming WrestleMania XL celebrations in Philadelphia in 2024. Van Dam has said himself that his future with AEW is 'wait and see'.
