Rocky Romero: "There Will Definitely Be Surprises At The Tokyo Dome"

Along with what has been made official, New Japan Pro-Wrestling seemingly have some big plans for Wrestle Kingdom 17. 

While addressing the Sasha Banks rumours on The Sessions with Renee Paquette, Rocky Romero guaranteed there would be surprises inside the Tokyo Dome on January 4.

"I've heard a lot of rumours, but I can't confirm nor deny at this moment. Fingers crossed, you never know what could happen. There will definitely be surprises at the Tokyo Dome," Romero said.

Reports have noted that Mercedes Varnado (AKA Sasha Banks) will make her NJPW debut at Wrestle Kingdom 17 to set up her involvement in the IWGP Women's Championship picture. She is expected to appear following the title match between KAIRI and Tam Nakano. 

Banks had previously been under contract with WWE but she departed the company in the summer under the proviso that she could not take any wrestling-related bookings until 2023. She has since reportedly agreed a short-term deal with New Japan that will make her the highest-paid talent in the promotion.
