We are a little over a week away from Ring of Honor Final Battle 2022, and a new match has been made with ROH Women’s World Champion Mercedes Martinez set to defend the title in singles action.

Martinez will put the gold on the line against Athena, with the two having issues since Martinez’ return to AEW in November. Martinez - who was absent since July with an undisclosed injury - last defended the title at Death Before Dishonor 2022 in July, overcoming Serena Deeb in singles action.

The third champion in title history, Martinez defeated lineal Champion Deonna Purrazzo in May 2022 after defeating Willow Nightingale for the interim championship at Supercard of Honor on April 1.

Athena will be hoping it’s third time lucky with regards to title shots since joining AEW, with the ‘Fallen Goddess’ having lost to TBS Champion Jade Cargill at All Out, and came up short in an AEW Women’s World Title four-way at Grand Slam 2022.

Ring of Honor Final Battle is set for Saturday December 10 2022 at 4pm ET/9pm GMT.
