Roman Reigns returned to WWE programming on Monday Night RAW for the first time since WrestleMania season, making a beeline for the pairing of Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed. Given the events of recent months, including a promo over the last few weeks directed from Seth Rollins to Roman Reigns, the belief from many was that SummerSlam 2025 would feature a big clash between Rollins and Reigns. However, Rollins picked up an apparent ill-timed injury at Saturday Night’s Main Event during his match with LA Knight, leaving many uncertain about the status of SummerSlam’s top matches.
However, according to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Rollins’ injury may not have impacted plans for Roman Reigns and SummerSlam at all. It is revealed by Meltzer that on internal proposed SummerSlam cards up to three weeks ago that it was listed as ‘Roman Reigns vs. Bron Breakker’. Other potential plans included a tag team match pitting Reigns and Jey Uso against Breakker and Bronson Breed. Rollins was nowhere in sight.
This suggests that the Seth Rollins injury could in fact be a work - as is also reported by Dave Meltzer, among others, though Rollins was spotted at Evolution last week on crutches.
