Roman Reigns Vs. Brock Lesnar Confirmed For WWE Crown Jewel

For the Universal title

WWE announced Thursday that Universal champion Roman Reigns will defend his gold against Brock Lesnar at Crown Jewel next month in Saudi Arabia.

The title match is contingent, of course, on Reigns retaining the championship against Finn Balor at Extreme Rules on September 26.

Lesnar returned to WWE at SummerSlam last month, confronting Reigns following the main event. It was the first time Lesnar had appeared for the organization since WrestleMania 36 in April of 2020.

Lesnar formally issued the challenge to Reigns on last Friday's SmackDown at Madison Square Garden. Reigns accepted the challenge later in the night, vowing to destroy Lesnar after he's done doing the same to Balor.

Counting the 2016 Royal Rumble match, this is the sixth different World or Universal title match in which Lesnar and Reigns have both been involved. Reigns' only win was in beating Lesnar for the Universal title at the 2018 SummerSlam.

Crown Jewel takes place on Thursday, October 21, at 1 pm EST. It marks WWE's first event in Saudi Arabia since Super ShowDown in February 2020.
