The Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar storyline on WWE SmackDown is reportedly scheduled to lead to a series of matches between the two mega-stars in 2022.

Reigns and Lesnar are scheduled to once again meet in a Universal Championship Match at WWE Day 1 in January, a rematch from their Championship bout at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia in October.

It has previously been reported that Lesnar and Reigns would also meet in the main-event of WrestleMania 38 - the third time they would do so having previously faced each other at WrestleMania 31 and WrestleMania 34.

That could still be the plan because, according to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, the Beast and the Tribal Chief are set to have a multi-match series in the coming months.

Meltzer said: "Regarding Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar as the main event for Day One, this is scheduled to be a multi-match series and this being one of the matches in the series."

Some fans are speculating that Lesnar could enter and win the 2022 Men's Royal Rumble in order to set up a WrestleMania bout with Reigns.
