Rumour Killer On 'Absurd Take' That Jeff Hardy Was Trying To Get Fired From WWE

Hardy was released by WWE on Thursday

Since Jeff Hardy's release from WWE on Thursday 9 December, rumours have circulated on social media among fans that The Charismatic Enigma was deliberately seeking to get fired from the promotion.

As previously noted, Hardy last wrestled for WWE at a live event on Saturday 4 December, in which there were concerns for his wellbeing as he appeared to struggle in the ring before leaving the ringside area through the crowd.

Reports have since indicated that Hardy was released by WWE after declining their offer to attend rehab, prompting some fans to speculate that Hardy was actually trying to get fired from the company.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, however, indicates that sources close to Hardy himself have now reacted to this idea, describing it as an 'absurd take'.

He wrote: "It seems silly to address this at all, but according to those close with him I spoke to -- Jeff Hardy wasn't trying to get fired from WWE. He wasn't 'working to get out of his deal.' The exact phrase I was given was that it was an 'absurd take.'"

Jeff has since reappeared in a vignette on YouTube with his brother, Matt. Matt has also spoken further about Jeff, saying he has no worries about his brother's wellbeing.
