Brock Lesnar has been persona non grata within WWE since January after the former Universal Champion was implicated in the sex trafficking lawsuit filed against Vince McMahon, WWE, and John Laurinaitis. Lesnar was not directly named in the lawsuit but the Wall Street Journal identified him as the "former UFC Heavyweight Champion" referenced within the suit.

Former WWE employee Janel Grant has alleged that Vince McMahon used her as a sexual pawn in his attempts to bring Lesnar out of retirement in 2021, with one of the informal conditions of Lesnar's return being that he could "f**k" Grant. McMahon also allegedly directed Grant to produce "personalized sexual content" for Lesnar, which led to her allegedly sending him a video of her urinating. Two sexual encounters between Grant and Lesnar were also allegedly arranged but did not end up taking place.

Following the filing of the lawsuit in late January, WWE scrapped plans for Lesnar to return at the Royal Rumble. His internally planned matches against Dominik Mysterio at Elimination Chamber and Gunther at WrestleMania 40 were also pulled. WWE have looked to distance themselves from Lesnar ever since and he is not a playable character in WWE 2K24.

There was speculation that WWE's attitude towards Lesnar had changed over the weekend, however, following claims that he had been moved from the alumni section of the WWE roster page back to the active roster. This was simply social media speculation, though, and Lesnar was never actually moved to the alumni section in the first place.

Having looked at WWE.com in recent weeks, Lesnar was still featured as a member of the active roster. Wayback Machine and Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful have confirmed as much as well.
