Rumour Killer On WWE Backlash In Mexico

The 2025 edition of WWE Backlash reportedly won't be taking place in Mexico.

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, several people within WWE have stated Bad Bunny's comments during his Rolling Stone interview about Backlash heading to Mexico were not correct and there are no current plans for Backlash to take place in Mexico.

Fightful Select also noted it had been internally denied within WWE that Backlash would be emanating from Mexico.

Bad Bunny told Rolling Stone about his Backlash 2023 match:

"What can I tell you? It was nice. We were there until we could bring WWE to Puerto Rico. And man, I actually feel like it was good for them and for everyone, because I saw that last year Backlash was in France, now it's going to Mexico. They saw that it worked."

WWE have never hosted a pay-per-view/premium live event in Mexico. It was reported in late 2024, however, that holding a major event in Mexico at some point in 2025 had been discussed within the company.

WWE have held more international pay-per-views since 2022, with PLEs being held in the United Kingdom, Germany, and France.
