WWE star Sami Zayn was written off television on the July 7 edition of Raw.

Prior to his match with Bron Breakker, Zayn was attacked by Karrion Kross, who hit him in the ribs with a metal pipe. Despite this, Sami insisted the match with Breakker go ahead.

Zayn was then hit with two Spears during the match - one on the outside and one inside the ring - leading to Breakker picking up the win. On commentary, Michael Cole played up that Zayn was in no condition to compete and begged the referee to stop the match. Sami's ribs were taped as a result of Kross' attack on last week's episode of Raw.

During a backstage segment later in the show, Paul Heyman announced that Sami was out of action 'indefinitely'. There is no official word on how long the 40-year-old will be absent from WWE programming for.

Earlier this year, the former Intercontinental Champion took some time away from WWE, which may have been due to the holy month of Ramadan. Sami himself shut down speculation that he asked for time off.
