Samoa Joe Wins The AEW World Title At Worlds End

Samoa Joe becomes AEW World Champion at Worlds End

Samoa Joe is your new AEW World Champion as he ended MJF's reign at 407 days with his win at AEW Worlds End on December 30 in Long Island, New York.

Samoa Joe has been around the AEW World Title picture for months and he betrayed MJF on Wednesday night's Dynamite to further add intrigue to their main event match at Worlds End.

When the match got underway, Samoa Joe dominated the opening minutes, which included a Muscle Buster on the apron right on MJF's injured left shoulder, and he continued to toy with Maxwell Jacob Friedman until MJF managed to hit some offence with his one good arm as Adam Cole watched on from ringside.

MJF managed to connect with the Heatseeker but Samoa Joe was able to kick out. MJF then scored the visual pinfall after a Low Blow and F5 to Joe while referee Bryce Remsburg was down following his customary ref bump. MJF called for the Dynamite Diamond ring to follow up but Adam Cole took too long to find it which allowed Samoa Joe to apply the Coquina Clutch.

Friedman tried his best Bret Hart escape but Joe reapplied the submission and MJF was unable to answer the count of three, although his arm landed on Joe's leg as opposed to the mat which led to a brief moment of confusion before the official called for the bell.

Having reached the top of the mountain, Samoa Joe made a swift exit with his new gold as the Long Island crowd watched on stunned and chanted "Bulls**t." Cole then briefly consoled MJF until the Devil's minions swarmed the ring and held back both Adam Cole and MJF as each begged for the Devil’s minions to hit them instead of their friend.

The lights in the arena then suddenly went out and when they came back on, Adam Cole was sat on the chair surrounded by the Devil’s minions, confirming he was in fact The Devil all along. The minions were then revealed to be Wardlow, Roderick Strong, Matt Taven, and Mike Bennett and they beat down MJF as Adam Cole smirked to end AEW Worlds End standing tall.
