Scrapped Nicknames For 'Daddy Magic' Matt Menard Revealed

While he initially debuted in All Elite Wrestling as 'Big Magic' Matt Lee, the 2point0 tag team underwent name changes upon forming The Jericho Appreciation Society and Lee was christened 'Daddy Magic' Matt Menard by the former AEW World Champion.

Speaking about the name change on Talk Is Jericho, Menard revealed that Jericho didn't like 'Lee' as a name in wrestling and he, therefore, decided to go with 'Menard', which is his mother's maiden name. 

Before that, though, a new nickname was needed as Jake Hager was already 'Big Hurt', so Menard sent a long list of suggestions to Chris Jericho.

"So I texted you [Chris Jericho] a laundry list of names. I have them right here. Do you wanna hear them? 'Summertime' Matt Lee.'The Hot Property' Matt Lee. '99 degrees' Matt Lee. 'Prime Rib' Matt Lee. 'Soft to the Touch, Always in Style' Matt Lee. 'The Genuine Article' Matt Lee. 'Seven-Dollars-a-Gallon' Matt Lee. 'Hunk of Meat' Matt Lee. 'The Finest Cut' Matt Lee. 'Magic Jack' Matt Lee. 'Fine Wine' Matt Lee. 'Hot to the Touch' Matt Lee. And maybe my personal favourite, 'The Mississippi Mudpie' Matt Lee," Menard detailed.

Menard ultimately decided he wanted to remain magic, though, adding: "'Daddy Magic', no that just came up. It was 'Big Magic', and then I always had in the back of my mind if I have to get rid of the 'Big,' I would use 'Daddy.'"

'Daddy Magic' and 'Cool Hand Ang' Angelo Parker were in action along with their Jericho Appreciation Society faction-mates at Double Or Nothing on Sunday and the stable picked up the win over Bryan Danielson, Eddie Kingston, Jon Moxley, Santana, and Ortiz in Anarchy In The Arena.
