It was recently revealed that WWE will broadcast their first ever ‘premium live event’ from Germany in 2024, with Bash in Berlin set for August 31, 2024.

However, it seems that WWE might not be one-and-done in Europe next year, with a report from Fightful Select suggesting that a major show could be in the works. Internal documents within WWE allegedly have Backlash pencilled in for Paris, France in Spring 2024, although it must be noted that nothing has been confirmed so far. It was also noted that the event name is not set in stone.

If plans do go ahead, it’ll be another step in WWE truly realising their global potential, with the company having promoted successful live shows from Saudi Arabia, Great Britain, and Puerto Rico over the past year, with major event Elimination Chamber set for Perth, Australia in February 2024.

Despite formerly being known as ‘World Wrestling Entertainment’, most if not all major PPV/PLE shows were historically hosted in either the USA or Canada, with worldwide territories getting house show tours, and the occasional TV taping or local PPV event if they were lucky. The beginning of WWE’s controversial partnership with the Saudi Arabia General Entertainment Authority marked the first step in the company producing major shows outside of North America on a regular basis.

With the WWE Network and an industry-wide change in how viewers digest broadcast media, there are fewer problems for WWE in producing overseas shows, with it previously believed that time difference issues would ultimately hurt PPV buys.
