Seth Rollins has revealed that it was Brock Lesnar who came up with the idea of their Universal Championship Match opening WWE WrestleMania 35.

The Architect defeated Lesnar to win his first Universal Title at the Showcase Of The Immortals in 2019, but the original plan was for their match to sit as the show's sub main-event, just before the Women's Triple Threat Match between Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey.

Lesnar, however, recognised that such placement would end up hurting both bouts, and put forward the idea of going on first.

Speaking on Steve Austin's Broken Skull Sessions, Rollins said: "Initially when the card first came out, we were supposed to go on right before them [first women's main event]. Brock was like 'No, we need to do something different. It's going to hurt both matches if they're back-to-back... It's going to take the wind out of the sails of both finishes.

"'We need to switch this up, let's do something we've never done. Let's go on first.'

"It took some convincing to push Vince in that direction, but within an hour of the show, we didn't make the switch until an hour of going out."

Speaking on working with Lesnar, he added: "I really enjoyed working with him. I learned a lot from him and I knew he likes Coors Light, so I had a nice bucket of Coors Light in his locker room, just as a thank you. I think that really won him over.

"We sat down after and had a couple of drinks. Sorry to ruin your mystique, Brock, but you’re actually a nice guy when you wanna be."
